In 1992, the Faculty of Social Sciences pioneered the Summer Programme tradition at the University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine Campus.

The Summer Programme modestly started off with five core undergraduate courses and was targeted mainly at students registered at UWI.

With its expanded course and programme offerings, the Social Sciences Summer Programme, now called the Summer School, currently attracts students from UWI and other tertiary institutions in Trinidad & Tobago, the CARICOM region and international destinations. It also caters to the needs of people in the workforce who recognize the importance of continually re-tooling themselves to meet the demands of their workplaces.

Our Summer School offers participants the opportunity to take part in various intellectually stimulating programmes. These programmes are conducted by a team of qualified and experienced full-time and part-time lecturers. The benefits to clients are many and range from accelerating programme completion times to personal and professional development.
