The Latin American Society of The University Of The West Indies (St. Augustine Campus), would like to welcome you into this culture based society. We hope your next few years here would be a pleasant and interesting experience, where you would meet your fellow students and plan for a bright future.

The Latin American Society invites all to explore the exciting world of Hispanic culture and its influence on the Caribbean region.

As a society, we are attempting to make the students of the Spanish/Latin American studies and other interested parties more aware of our goals. It will be a wonderful opportunity for any one who becomes part of this club . We welcome any suggestions from our new and current members, as each individual plays an integral role in the development of the society. Any contribution you can make towards this club will be welcomed.

You are cordially invited to attend the first meeting on the 15th September 2005(Venue to be announced) where you will be officially embraced as a member meet fellow members and get acquainted with the executive committee.

The Constitution of UWI Latin American Society

The UWI Latin American Society is a university group whose primary purpose is to promote the culture of the Latin Americans world to the students on the campus. The aim of this promotion is to provide the insight into the medium through the Latin American culture has influenced our own and how the blending of the two has created an exciting, enticing and colourful aura.

General Objectives

To encourage students studying Spanish and Portuguese to strive for excellence and professionalism in their work.

To establish and maintain contact with other clubs in order to promote the presence of Latin American culture in Trinidad and Tobago.

To organize forums and conferences within the campus community.

To form and maintain an alumni association.

Our Objectives

To form chat-circles holding discussions on contemporary subject matters and consolidate knowledge attained from previous conferences into our discussions.

To provide Spanish and Portuguese students with pertinent information on topics outlined in their relevant course of study via the web and/or distribution of pamphlets and newsletters.

To orchestrate recreational, cultural and didactic activities in order to contribute to the teaching - learning process.

To hold fund - raising events to provide the executive members the capital needed to successfully complete their duties.

To increase relationships between lecturers and students.
