May the peace, mercy and blessings of Almighty Allah be with you! This is the homepage of the University of the West Indies Islamic Society at St. Augustine, Trinidad. Formed in 1969, the U.W.I. Islamic Society or U.W.I.I.S., has kept its doors open to both Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Since then, our membership has been steadily increasing with each academic year such that we currently have over four hundred and fifty members in 2007. Undergraduates, postgraduates, university staff members, and alumni all make up the U.W.I.I.S, so don’t be surprised if you see your lecturer standing side by side with you during salaah!
