Internationally, the mandate for countries to pursue socially just practices in education has been championed by The United Nations and, in particular, UNESCO as early as the 1970s. It is now over a decade since the World Education Forum in Dakar and more than two decades since the World conference on Education for All in Jomtien, Thailand. While Education for All seems to be philosophically sound, translating it into practice in countries around the world that are economically, racially, culturally and geo politically diverse remains a challenge. Interestingly enough, achieving Education for All in the 21st Century should be effortless given the ubiquitous nature of technology and the internet that promotes the preponderance and proliferation of distance learning options. Moreover, new pedagogical and andragogical models based on Universal Design for Learning, and policies and legislation worldwide that promote, embrace and integrate tenets associated with inclusive practices in education should assist with making Education for All a reality.
