The Department of Economics, UWI St Augustine will hold its first annual Conference on the Trinidad and Tobago Economy (COTE).  COTE 2007 seeks to provide answers to questions such as  :

  • How are we managing our energy windfall revenues?

  • Has the Point Lisas model run its course?  Should we transform our economy for sustainable development?  How, why?

  • Role of the Banks in a Period of Plenty- Stimulators of Investments or Promoters of Consumption?.

  • Is T&T really the regional financial capital?

  • Is there a case for fiscal federalism in Tobago?

  • Are we satisfied that in the current age of plenty that we are getting adequate returns from Government’s social expenditures?

  • What are some of the implications of the CSME and Multilateral Agreements on our economic development prospects

Speakers include: Professor Dennis Pantin, Dr. Trevor Farrell, Dr. Dhanayshar Mahabir, Gregory McGuire, Kelvin Sergeant, Dr. Ronald Ramkissoon, Professor Karl Theodore as well as other senior policy-makers from the public and private sectors.

Date: April 12th and 13th 2007.

Venue: Conference Room, UWI  School of Education

Cost: TT$700.00: (includes conference materials, lunch and coffee breaks)
