The
Guild of Students is organizing the first Student
Summit of the Americas in Trinidad from 2nd
to 4th March 2005, in conjunction with The
University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus.
It will be hosted by the Government of Trinidad
and
Tobago, the City of Port of Spain and the University
of the West Indies.
This first biennial Summit will serve as an entry
point for students of the hemisphere into the CSME
and FTAA process. Its aim is to discuss
how to better involve students in the implementation
of the decisions coming out of this process and to
examine the impact the FTAA will
have on access to tertiary education and access to
tertiary education.
The Hemispheric Student Summit for the Americas will
bring together 1,000 students, from over 50 countries,
together with government agencies, and tertiary level
Educators.
The Summit will help to increase student’s understanding
of FTAA and the issues surrounding
this process by letting them share their concerns
experiences and opinions.
