Halima-Sa’adia KASSIM

Halima-Sa’adia KASSIM has over fifteen years of research and management experience in national and regional organisations reflecting a rich and diverse experience in project writing and grant funding, teaching, education administration, diplomatic service, representation on national committees and civil society, in particular, dealing with youth development and gender equality. She is the author of several technical papers on gender and development, gender-based violence including cyber-violence, child protection, migration, MDGs, and changing population dynamics and has two co-authored technical papers on migration and development and ICTs. She has also published several articles on education, gender and the Muslim community and a monograph on a credit union development in Trinidad and Tobago. She obtained her Ph.D. from the University of the West Indies (UWI). She is currently employed at the University Office of Planning and Development, UWI. Her academic research interests include the evolution of the Muslim community with a particular focus on Trinidad and Tobago, gendered identities, cultural retention and negotiation. She has also been a Member of the High Level Expert Panel on the Implementation of Arts, Cultural and Entrepreneurial and Patriotism Projects (Cabinet Committee).
