BA, THEATRE ARTS - MAJOR ( 36 CREDITS ) 

LEVEL II - SEMESTER I

CA22A - Drama and Society (Compulsory for BA, Theatre)
Pre-requisite: CA12A

This course investigates the linkages between drama/theatre and the community each serves. Coursework is based on the festival theatres and dramas of Trinidad and Tobago - Ramleela, Hosay, Carnival, African feasts.

Assessment:
Coursework: 50%
Examination: 50%

CA22F - Directing I (Compulsory for BA, Theatre)
Pre-requisite: CA12A or permission of the lecturer

This course introduces students to the foundation skills required to stage a play: analysis, visualisation and creating stage action. Students are required to stage short in-house presentations.

Assessment:
Coursework 100%

CA22H - Performance II (Compulsory for BA, Theatre)
Pre-requisite: CA 22P or permission of the lecturer

This course investigates through project work the major performance theorists and genres (Stanislavski's System, The Method, Brecht's Epic Theatre, Artaud's Theatre of Cruelty, Grotowski's Poor Theatre and Peter Brook) in relation to Caribbean performance styles.


CA220 - Production II
Pre-requisite:
CA12C or CA12D

Assessment:
Coursework: 60%
