LusoFesta (formerly Braspo Day)

LusoFesta is a week of events showcasing the Portuguese language and Lusophone (Portuguese-speaking) cultures through song, dance, play, food and film.

This year, 2017, we focus on Guinea Bissau, Macau, Madeira and Manaus - come one, come all! Join us for our mini LusoFesta Film Festival (Wednesday 29 March to Friday 7 April, click on the image below for more details). LusoFesta Day starts at 9:30 a.m. on Friday 7 April. All events take place at the Centre for Language Learning, and are free and open to the campus community and the public.

About LusoFesta Day 2017

Our Feature Speaker, Dr Khellon Roach of the Institute of International Relations. will speak on Brazil-CARICOM relations at the LusoFesta Day Opening Ceremony, which will include national and regional dances, and the students’ research symposium.

Polos and lunches will be on sale. There will be a Language Café, poster and book displays, and a series of LusoFesta Interactions and Workshops, including a brigadeiro (Brazilian truffles) workshop and a Chinese knot-making workshop. Registration for the workshops will be done on the day on a first come, first served basis, for a small fee of $10. There will also be free dance and capoeira tutorials from 1:00 p.m. (all territories).
