Clinical Pathology is a subspecialty of pathology that deals with the use of laboratory methods for assessment of the health status of animals, and the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The SVM Clinical Pathology Laboratory was established by an SVM pathologist, Dr Mervyn Campbell, in 1998.

The lab is equipped with two state-of-the-art automated analyzers (hematology and biochemistry) and is staffed by two laboratory technicians, one Teaching Assistant, and one ACVP (American College of Veterinary Pathologists) board-certified veterinary clinical pathologist who all work together to provide high quality, timely and accurate diagnostic testing in hematology, clinical chemistry, urinalysis, cytology and cross matching for a variety of species. In addition to diagnostic services and specimen analysis, the laboratory provides valuable case material for teaching veterinary medical students.
