Labs and Facilities
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (DMCS) has numerious labs and facilities for undergraduate students, postgraduate studnets and staff members.Computer Science Undergraduate Lab
The DMCS computer science laboratoy actually consists of three labs each seperated by a wooden partition. The third computer lab has been rennovated to produce a postgraduate computer lab, namely Lab 3.
The other two labs Lab 1 and Lab 2 provide an up to date facility for teaching and practical work.
Computer Science Postgraduate Lab
Formally called Lab 3, this lab houses all posgraduate students for the department.
Usability Lab
The Usability Lab is the first in the Caribbean.

Services
The DMCS has numerous services that are available to staff and students.
The Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance (MSDNAA)
The MSDN AA is an agreement between the DMCS and Microsoft. This allows department students and staff members to gain access to Microsoft software for the purpose of teaching, learning and research.
The procedure for getting access to the MSDNAA benefits are as follows:
- Carefully read the MSDNAA agreement before filling out two copies.
- This can be collected from the department office, the support section or it can be downloaded from the following link.
- NOTE: You will have to use your university e-mail address to ensure validation.
- The agreement emphasises on the terms of use of the benefits.
- Drop off both forms to the MSDNAA Administrator to verify the applicant.
- Once the applicant is verified it will be signed by the MSDNAA Administrator.
- The forms are then sent to the department to be stamped by the Head of Department.
- They are then returned to the support section for the MSDN AA Administrator to finalise the application process.
- Once the email address is processed, one copy of the form is given back to the applicant and the other is kept.
- Further contact will be done via email (supplied in the form) on the procedures of accessing the MSDNAA benefits.
Points to note:
- The benefits will expire when you are no longer a member of the department, either by completing courses or programmes that are offered by the department.
- The software that have already downloaded can be kept.
- You are fully responsible for the software that you have downloaded.
