B.Sc. General
5. The degree of B.Sc.. is awarded on the basis of a programme of studies selected from courses in Agricultural and /or Natural Science disciplines listed in Appendix II, together with certain Foundation courses and a limited number of approved courses from other Faculties.
6. The following types of courses which may consist of both theoretical and practical components are offered:
a. Courses taught by FSA or other Faculties which include Preliminary courses, Level I (or Introductory) courses, and Level II (or Advanced) courses.
b. Service courses, which provide students with basic techniques and skills
c. Foundation courses (see Appendix III) which are University courses designed to augment the general education of students.
Students wishing to register for courses offered by other Faculties must have prior approval of the Dean.
7. Courses normally extend over one (1) semester, but in special cases may extend over two (2) semesters. The weight of a course is expressed in terms of credit hours, and the credit-weighting of a course is determined by the Faculty, which administers the courses.
8. In order to be eligible for the award of the B.Sc. degree, candidates admitted to Level 1 must:
a. have been in satisfactory attendance for a period equivalent to at least six (6) semesters of full-time study from entry at Level I and;
b. have obtained passes in Levels I and II, and Foundation Courses amounting to the numbers of credits required
Exemptions from specific parts of the degree programme may be obtained under the provision of Section I.
9. In order to be awarded the B.Sc (General) degree Candidates must complete the requirements for a single major in a Science Discipline. (See below).
Candidates may however:
a. choose to complete the requirements for two FSA majors, or a single FSA major and a major from another Faculty for a double major; or
b. a single FSA major and one or two minors from the FSA or another Faculty. (A list of minors is given below)
Students pursuing the B.Sc.. Agribusiness Management Degree may be allowed to transfer to the Agribusiness Major after having successfully completed Year I. Similarly, students in the Agribusiness major may be allowed to transfer to the B.Sc.. Agribusiness Management Degree after successfully completing Year I.
