  • Max-Planck Institute of Limnology, Germany, Visiting researcher (2005-2006)
  • School for Field Studies, Turks & Caicos Islands, Lecturer (2005)
  • Manchester Metropolitan University, UK, PhD research (2000-2004) - Coral reef communities and carbonate production, Rio Bueno, Jamaica
Research Interests:
  • How environmental disturbances influence the balance between constructive and destructive processes on coral reefs (e.g. carbonate production and bioerosion).

  • Turbid-zone reef development and function

  • Climate change: implications for the marine environment

  • Land-sea interactions: how terrestrial inputs can influence coral reef communities

  • Coral reef conservation and restoration
  • Marine Resource Management
Current Research Projects:
  • The influence of South American river runoff (Amazon and Orinoco) on coral reef development in Trinidad and Tobago

  • Using stable isotopes (δ13C & δ15N) to examine resource use in coral reef habitats

  • Coral sclerochronology: using coral skeletons to decipher past climate conditions

  • Human impacts on coral reefs
