The Department of Physics

Welcome!

The department of Physics was established in 1963 with a core of 6 academic staff, specializing in X-ray crystallography. The department has grown over the years to include several diverse areas of research and teaching, with particular focus on Material Science, Medical Physics and Bioengineering, Environmental Physics and Electronics. Our undergraduate population has grown in the past few years and we now have approximately 60 students reading degrees with majors in Physics and one or more minors in our specialized areas. The graduate population numbers around 15 students. The department continues to have thriving collaborations with several foreign institutions in many different countries.
