MCSA
The Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator
(MCSA) is Microsoft's most recent addition to
its line of qualifications. This credential
is for IT professionals working in the typically
complex computing environment of medium to large
organisations. Although not as extensive as
the MCSE programme the MCSA is equally as rigorous.
It stresses on administration and maintenance
of a network rather than on design and implementation.
To attain the MCSA status the student must
succeed in 4 examinations, 2 Core examinations,
1 Elective examination and the compulsory examination
in Network Management.
Core Examinations (selected by FSS Computer
Lab):
- 70-210 Installing, Configuring and Administering
Windows 2000 Professional
- 70-215 Installing, Configuring and Administering
Windows 2000 Server
Elective Examination (selected by FSS Computer
Lab):
- 70-224 Installing, Configuring and Administering
Microsoft Exchange 2000
Network Management Examination:
- 70-218 Managing Windows 2000 Network Services
Important Notes:
Although the Core and Elective examinations
are part of the MCSE syllabus, the Network Management
examination is not.
Candidates who have been successful in both
CompTIA's A+ and Network+ examinations do not
have to satisfy the Elective requirement. Therefore,
these candidates will only have to sit and pass
three examinations to be awarded the MCSA certification.
