The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) held its Annual Inter-departmental cricket tournament this week. All departments were well represented in their various coloured polo tee shirts. The Faculty produced four teams comprising the Departments of Life Sciences; Chemistry; Computing & IT and finally the einstein8tors, a merger of the Department of Maths & Stats and Physics. Three matches with 10 over innings were played. In the first match, DCIT won the toss and was out of the game with 55 runs for 5 wickets while the einstein8tors emerged as the winners with 58 runs with 2 wickets in less than 6 overs.

The second match saw Life Sciences achieving a landslide victory over Chemistry with 97 runs with only 2 wickets taken. Chemistry was out of the game with 43 runs all out.
Chemisry (Yellow) vs Life Sciences (Green)
The third match was exciting as the two winners, einstein8tors & Life Sciences fought for the much coveted challenge trophy.
In the end, the tremendous skill exhibited by the DLS, including our very own Dean, Professor Ramnarine, resulted in their victory with 171 runs in the 10 overs, as against the einstein8tors with 100 runs. We congratulate Mr. Alvin Kallicharan on being the Most Outstanding Player, 2014.
|One of the main attractions at this employee event was the Zumba Divas. The Divas comprise members of the FST staff and students. Zumba, an initiative of the Dean, towards employee health and wellness is a tremendous success. The Zumba Divas led by Deputy Deans Drs. Shirin Haque and Donna Comissiong brought team spirit and excitement on the cricket field as they chaired the teams on. Decked out in pink, purple and black, the Divas supported the cricket teams from start to finish, with their enthusiasm matching the vibrancy of their colourful costumes.||
