INDUSTRY

The Department of Computing & Information Technology has strong links with the ICT industry in Trinidad & Tobago. We discuss matters on Curriculum reform so that we get their input in creating the ideal UWI graduate. We have recently introduced an Internship program for our students during the summer months. From time to time, we have guest lectures from interested persons in industry. We participate in many workshops, breakfast seminars, webinars, and other meetings to share and learn.

Trinidad and Tobago Network Information Centre (TTNIC)

Awarded to the M.Sc. (Computer Science) Graduate with the Highest Overall Examination Average.

The Trinidad and Tobago Network Information Centre (TTNIC) manages the registration of domain names within the TT (Trinidad and Tobago) Top Level Domain.

This includes all Internet domain names that end in the .tt suffix like, for example, gov.tt.

The TTNIC is guided by an advisory committee which includes members who represent the major Internet stakeholders within Trinidad and Tobago.

We also work closely with various government ministries, including Ministry of Science & Technology, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Tertiary Education.

 

ACADEMIC

The University of the West Indies has Memorandum of Agreements with several universities. One of the universities that we are currently actively engaged with is the University of Central Florida, where one of the professors at UCF teaches (online) in our MSc program. Some universities provide external examiners for our undergraduate and graduate courses. Our Academic staff collaborates on research with the Computing Department at some of these universities. There is also staff exchange.
