Secondary School Outreach Programme
The Faculty of Science and Technology recently embarked on a secondary school science outreach programme. The main objective of these school visits is to encourage form three students to take an active interest in science, and to inform upper sixth form students about possible careers for people with an undergraduate degree in the sciences. In March and April 2014, a team of representatives from each department in the Faculty visited three schools to address the form three students:
- St Francois Girls High School
- St Augustine Girls High School
- St Joseph Convent, St Joseph
The visits have been an overwhelming success, and we have been asked to return to address students at these schools in subsequent years. Other secondary schools have expressed an interest in this outreach initiative, and they are currently on the waiting list for a visit from our faculty after the school Easter vacation period.
