Course Description 

An overview of the biology, taxonomy and phylogeny of bacteria, fungi and viruses. Topics covered include bacterial carbon and energy metabolism, as well as genetic recombination, growth and nutrition. The course covers the principles of classical and molecular-based methods used in the identification and enumeration of microorganisms.
