  • 16th –  18th June, 2015 – UWI Open Day; JFK Undercroft 9.00 a.m. – 6.00 p.m. The University will be hosting this event for any persons wishing to become a part of the UWI family, and to give more information on what life as a UWI student entails, for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Institute of International Relations will be hosting one of the booths at this event. Members of the IIR staff will be present to give insight on the programmes offered at the Institute. Prospective students will also have the opportunity to apply for programmes during this three-day period.  
  • 24th June, 2015 – Prof. Knight attended the First Trinidad and Tobago-Spain Partnership Forum, co-hosted by the Embassy of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, and InvesTT Trinidad and Tobago at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad. Feature address was done by Sen. The Honourable Vasant Bharath – Minister of Trade, Industry, Investment and Communications.

The Caribbean Child Rights Observatory Network and UNICEF Office for the Eastern Caribbean Area will be hosting a discussion on the Use of Data and Technology for informing Children’s Policy. Speakers will include Jamir Nazar, Director of policy, Strategy and Government Performance Management Division at the Office of the Prime Minister; Asia Jutla, a public servant; Kenfield Griffith, entrepreneur and a 16-year old secondary school student who will show how his generation is navigating through the multiple platforms available to keep issues critical to children on the public agenda.

The Australian High Commission in partnership with the Institute of International Relations and the Diplomatic Academy of the Caribbean hosted a Round Table Discussion led by Mr. Daniel Sloper, Deputy Sherpa for the G20 which outlined plans for Austria's hosting of the G20 Leaders in Brisbane, November, 2014 and provided and update on the meeting on G20 Trade Ministers and the B20 meeting of business leaders.

Members of the William J. Perry Centre for Hemispheric Defense Studies paid a courtesy visit to the Institute of International Relations on 29 August 2013. Discussions revolved around: the drafting of a MOU between The University of the West Indies and the CHDS; faculty exchanges; student training; participation of CHDS staff in the activities of the new Diplomatic Academy; joint research projects between the two institutions; alignment of research goals. It was a very productive meeting that will most definitely yield major results.William J Perry Center visit

IIR Director Director met with His Excellency Yoshimasa Tezuka, the Japanese Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, 21 August, over lunch at the Ambassador's residence, to discuss among other things possible collaboration between the IIR and the Japanese Embassy on a number of projects in 2014, when Japan celebrates 50 years in the relationship between Japan and Trinidad and Tobago.

As part of a wider visit to Trinidad and Tobago co-funded by the British and Canadian High Commissions, two members of the Commonwealth Eminent Persons Group (EPG), Sir Ronald Sanders and Canadian Senator Hugh Segal engaged with faculty and students of the University of The West Indies Institute of International Relations at a discussion seminar where they presented some of the key recommendations of the EPG report on 17 August 2011.
