UWI study abroad fellowship

(Travel grant for UWI undergraduates)

This scheme is intended to promote UWI study abroad possibilities by facilitating three types of student mobility: between the UWI and selected Caribbean and Latin American universities; and between UWI and those American and Commonwealth universities with which UWI has entered cooperative agreements.

The Scheme will provide travel fellowships. In each academic year, each campus will make available a number of Study Abroad Fellowships which will be open to competition by undergraduate students. The fellowships will allow student to spend at least one semester or, at most, an academic year at another UWI campus or at any university with which we have exchange or study abroad agreements.

The fellowships will provide recipients with a return airfare to the campus or university of their choice. In exceptional circumstances, a modest contribution towards maintenance costs may be made available.

All full-time undergraduate students who have completed level 1, who have no yet entered the final semester of their degree programmes and who have maintained a B+ average throughout their period of registration will be eligible for the fellowships.

Applications must be made through the Campus Registrar.

CUSAC bursary scheme

(Bursary for travel between Commonwealth countries)

The CUSAC bursary scheme was developed to assist undergraduates in a member university wishing to undertake part of their studies in another Commonwealth country. The scheme aims to increase mobility amongst CUSAC members, encourage new partnerships between institutions and assist students to study abroad who would not otherwise be able to do so.

At present there are over 60 member universities representing the initial signatories to the CUSAC agreement and new ones. While we do not yet have formal agreements with all of these institutions, our joint relationship in CUSAC means that it should be easy to arrange for you to visit any of them, if you desire. For further information on CUSAC and its member universities please click here.
