Application Procedure for Incoming Undergraduate Exchange Students


Deadlines for Application

Semester I (September to December) – Deadline: April 15th  (for late applications April 30th)

Semester II (January to May) – Deadline: October 01st (for late applications October 15th)


Requirements are as follows: 

  • The Completed UWI-STA Exchange/Study Abroad application form
  • An up to date official transcript 
  • Two (2) academic references from your university*
  • Cover letter: Approval/Endorsement from your university for exchange/study abroad
  • Two passport-sized photographs
  • The completed UWI Medical Form  
  • For students with Disabilities
  • Academic Advising/Disabilities Liaison Unit Intake form
  • Request for Disability Services
  • Hall of Residence Application Form (on-campus housing)

- Reservation fee (to be refunded) please refer to Hall Application form for amount

- Letter of reference (character) please request format from our office

  • Copy of Birth Certificate or Passport Bio-Data page
  • For Postgraduate/Masters Students only: a statement of intent with plan of study or research
  • English Language requirement for International applicants whose first language is not English:
  1. You are required to provide evidence of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 500 paper-based or 82 on the computer-based examination
  2. A Certificate showing a minimum total score of 6.5 on the University of Cambridge IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
  • Grade B or above in the College English Course from an approved University
    (Recognised Home University English language exam at Advanced level)


Students may register for no more than 5 courses per semester, but no less than 4 courses per semester (unless approved to do so by your home university). Please check the relevant Faculty Booklet for information on the courses offered, at - scroll down to online booklets.

Study Abroad Students

If your institution does not have a formal agreement with UWI you can still come to our campus as a 'study abroad' student. You must first obtain permission from your Institution by contacting the relevant office or person (such as your International Office or study abroad advisor) in order to discuss obtaining credit for the studies that you will undertake at UWI. As a study abroad student, you will be required to pay tuition and fees to UWI, as well as all personal expenses.

• October 15th for Semester 2 (Jan-Apr)
