Application Procedure for Incoming Undergraduate Exchange Students


Complete Application Form for Incoming Exchange Students Form prepared
Wait for course approvals from relevant departments and apply for housing accomodation. All course approvals obtained
Await a provisional letter of acceptance from the IO Provisional letter of acceptance issued.
Await a formal letter of acceptance from the Office of Admissions Formal letter of acceptance issued.
Apply for a visa. To see if nationals of your country require a visa to enter Trinidad & Tobago, please click here. Visa acquired (if applicable).
Confirm attendance, housing , courses and other relevant requirements with host institution. Confirmation of arrangements at host institution.
Purchase airline ticket and email flight itinerary to the IO and local residence. Flight itinerary emailed.
Arrival in Trinidad & Tobago
Come to the IO to check in with us. Student checked in with IO.
Duration of stay
Consult with IO for all matters related to adding / dropping of courses or any other academic matters that might arise whilst at the host institution.  
Before departing Trinidad & Tobago
Ensure that all outstanding fees are paid , apply for reimbursement of caution money and check out with the IO. Outstanding fees paid, caution money reimbursed and student checked out with IO.


The completed Application Form for Incoming Exchange Students should be sent to our office via your university's International Office together with the following documents:
(a) An up-to-date official transcript
(b) A statement of intent: plan of study or research (for graduate students only)
(c) Two (2) academic references from your university
(d) A letter of support from your Head of Department
(e) The Dean's approval
(f) Two (2) passport-sized photographs

(g) UWI Medical Form

(h) Student with Disabilities

      Academic Advising / Disabilities Liaison Unit Intake Form and

      Request for Disability Services

Students may register for no more than 5 courses per semester. Please check the relevant

Faculty Booklet for information on the courses offered.


Study Abroad Students

If your institution does not have a formal agreement with UWI you can still come to our campus as a 'study abroad' student. You must first obtain permission from your Institution by contacting the relevant office or person (such as your International Office or study abroad advisor) in order to discuss obtaining credit for the studies that you will undertake at UWI. As a study abroad student, you will be required to pay tuition and fees to UWI, as well as all personal expenses.

Application deadlines

Applications should be submitted by:
• March 1 for Semester 1 (Sep-Dec) or an academic year
• October 15th for Semester 2 (Jan-Apr)
