Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science with one or more of the following areas of specialization:

 

  • Algorithms and Computational Complexity;
  • Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems;
  • Database Systems, Data Analytics, and Big Data;
  • Human System Interaction;
  • Internet Technologies;
  • Pervasive Computing;
  • Programming and Data Structures;
  • Software Engineering and Testing.

 

Candidates must also have considerable experience in teaching at the tertiary level and a strong record of research and publication. 

Further consideration will be given to candidates possessing:

 

  • Certificate in teaching at University level
  • Professional certification in an area of specialization
  • Successful grant applications

 

 

Special Responsibilities

  • Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Computer Science and Information Technology programmes
  • Supervising postgraduate students
  • Developing a high quality research programme
  • Attracting funding for research programmes
  • Assisting in Departmental administration and curriculum development
  • Participating in outreach activities

 

Personal Attributes

The Department places high priority on individuals of integrity and who can work well in a team and student friendly environment. Candidates should also possess good communication and interpersonal skills. A good command of both oral and written English is essential. Candidates must also:

  • Be keen to interact with the national and regional communities
  • Be willing to support research priorities of the Department
  • Demonstrate interest in cross-disciplinary projects
