SENIOR LECTURER/LECTURER IN AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must possess a PhD. in Agricultural Extension with substantial Extension teaching at a recognized university and with specialization in one or more of the following areas:

 

  • Use of Mass Media in Agriculture Extension (highly desirable)
  • Agribusiness Extension
  • Farm and Home Management Extension
  • Extension Programme Planning
  • Rural Development
  • Outreach Planning and Implementation

 

 

Candidates must also have:

 

  • Considerable experience in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level in the areas of specialization
  • A good track record of research and publications in referred international journals
  • Familiarity with Information Communication technologies which are of use for agriculture and agribusiness development
  • Experience in teaching Sustainable Agricultural Development in Tropical Countries, Agribusiness, Agricultural Finance and Agricultural Marketing
  • Familiarity with Extension Services and Extension Systems, particularly those systems from tropical countries
  • The ability to prepare audio visual and print material on matters pertaining to Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Financing and Agricultural Marketing
  • Leadership and administrative experience in a teaching/research environment

 

 

Special Responsibilities 

 

  • Assisting in the vision and leadership of the University’s Agricultural Extension programme
  • Contributing significantly to teaching, research and curriculum development in Extension at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Conducting applied research in areas such as agricultural extension and other related fields
  • Supervising research leading to MSc. /MPhil/PhD in the areas of specialization
