The University of the West Indies, the premier tertiary institution of the Caribbean is inviting applications for the post University Registrar, to be located in the Vice-Chancellery.


According to Statute 12, the University Registrar shall act as Secretary of the Council and of the Senate, the two highest authorities for policy and academic matters of the University.


The University Registrar shall also be responsible for the custody of the common seal and shall be the Custodian of the records of the University. 


As the University enters the second year of its 2017-2022 Strategic Plan, the University is looking for a dynamic, transformational leader to function as its Chief Administrative Officer.


The preferred candidate must fit the following profile:



  • Be a proven people-centered leader, with the capacity to bring out the best in his/her direct reports;


  • A strategic thinker and decisive problem solver;


  • An effective listener, who seeks to understand before being understood, and a shaper of a culture of “everybody matters”;


  • Be au courant with the latest developments in Higher Education and best practices in ensuring a good employee experience as well as a memorable student experience;


  • Be capable of interpreting the Charter, Statutes, Ordinances and Regulations of the University;


  • Be familiar with The UWI’s Enterprise Solutions, viz., PeopleSoft HR; Banner Finance and Banner Student, among others.



The preferred candidate should have a master’s degree as well as a minimum of 10 years experience at the Senior Executive level.  Prior experience in a higher education environment would be an asset.


An attractive remuneration package is attached to the post.


The successful applicant will be expected to assume duties by January 1, 2019.
