Qualification and Experience 

Minimum qualification of a PhD in one of the following areas:


  • Biostatistics
  • Health Sciences
  • Social Sciences.


An MSc in Epidemiology or Biostatistics would be an asset, as would an MBBS, DVM or DDS degree


The successful candidate must also possess:


  • Considerable experience in conducting research and/or experience in advising on matters related to the conduct of research and/or in the management of large data sets
  • Expertise in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods
  • Experience in teaching and/or in the conduct of research training for health professionals
  • Proficiency in the use of relevant statistical and database software such as SPSS
  • Experience in grant writing



Special Responsibilities


  • Promoting, supporting and actively facilitating the strengthening of the research system in the Faculty of Medical Sciences
  • Conducting research methodology and data analysis workshops
  • Preparing grant proposals
  • Analysing data
  • Preparing research reports and manuscripts for publication
  • Working collaboratively with other researchers within and outside the FMS
