Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must possess a Master’s degree in Dance, Dance Studies or the equivalent. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Dance, Dance Studies, Fine Arts or equivalent will also be considered. Considerable teaching and performing experience and established practice in the Arts is also required. 

Further consideration would be given to candidates with specialization in one or more of the following areas:


  • Caribbean Traditional Dance;
  • Dance History;
  • Dance Composition;
  • Dance Injuries and Conditioning;
  • Modern Dance Technique;
  • Ballet



Special Responsibilities 


  • Teaching courses at the Certificate and Degree levels in Dance Theory and Practice
  • Evaluating student work and managing student projects
  • Assisting in the production and direction of student concerts and festivals



Personal Attributes 

The Department places high priority on individuals who can work well in a team environment. Candidates should also possess good communication and interpersonal skills. A good command of both oral and written English is essential. Candidates must also:


  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge and research in teaching of dance and the creation of dance movement
  • Inspire and lead student involvement in projects that relate to the art of dance
  • Possess a positive disposition to the deployment of Information and Communication Technology in teaching
  • Possess the ability to adapt, use and create local materials
