Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must possess a Master’s degree in Fine Arts (MFA) or Theatre, or an earned Doctorate (PhD.) in Theatre or related field with established practice in the Arts. Candidates with considerable teaching and curriculum development experience at the tertiary level will be given preference.

Further consideration would be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:


  • Active Theatre Arts Practice
  • Caribbean Theatre as researcher, performer, director, dramaturge etc.
  • Caribbean Dance
  • Carnival and Caribbean Musical Forms
  • Public service in the Arts
  • Educative Theatre



Special Responsibilities


  • Teaching courses in the Certificate, Degree and Post Graduate programmes in Theatre and Carnival Performing Arts
  • Developing courses and programmes in Creative Arts in partnership with other Faculty members, regional or international stakeholders
  • Supervising student projects and providing academic advising
  • Managing outreach projects and supervising research
  • Undertaking a major responsibility for the supervision and/or direction of annual Departmental productions



Personal Attributes

The Department places high priority on individuals who can work well in a team environment. Candidates should also possess good communication and interpersonal skills. A good command of both oral and written English is essential. Candidates must also:


  • Inspire and mobilize student involvement in projects and productions
  • Possess a positive disposition to the deployment of Information and Communication Technology in teaching
  • Possess a proven appreciation of the inter-relatedness of the arts with a willingness to integrate the arts
  • Demonstrate evidence of practice and research in Caribbean art forms
  • Possess competence in the design, evaluation and development of Theatre Arts curriculum and curriculum materials
