The successful candidate must possess a BSc/MSc in Health Communication with a PhD in related areas (Health Communication/Bioethics/Clinical Psychology/Counselling Psychology/Linguistics) or MBBS with Master’s in Bioethics or Health Communication, with:


  • Experience in the use of multi-media resources in tertiary level teaching; and 
  • Evidence of research activity at the tertiary level


Preference would be given to candidates who possess:


  • Experience in teaching communication to undergraduate health professional students



Special Responsibilities


  • Teaching Professionalism, Ethics and Communication in Health courses to health professional undergraduate students
  • Designing and organizing workshops and seminars on Medical Professionalism and Ethics
  • Developing high quality multi-media teaching resources in Health Communication
  • Developing course manuals
  • Developing and maintaining personal scholarship in the area of communications training for health professionals
  • Servicing and attracting funding for high quality educational research programs
  • Undertaking other related activities as deemed appropriate by your Head of Centre



Personal Attributes

The Centre places high priority on individuals who can work well in a team environment. Candidates should possess good communication and interpersonal skills. A good command of both oral and written English is essential. Candidates must also:


  • Be innovative and action oriented
  • Have a broad based background in teaching Communication and developing multi-media resources for supporting teaching and learning
  • Have experience working in a multidisciplinary Medical Sciences teaching environment
