Qualification and Experience

The successful candidate must possess a Ph.D. in Pharmacology with considerable post-doctoral teaching and research experience in the relevant area of specialization. Further consideration will be given to candidates with experience in teaching Pharmacology and related subjects, and a proven track record of post-doctoral research.

The successful candidate should be registered or be able to register as a health care professional with the relevant statutory body in Trinidad and Tobago.


Special Responsibilities


  • Teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students in various subjects such as Pharmacology, Immunology, Applied Therapeutics, Clinical Toxicology, Clinical Skills
  • Carrying out research and producing publications or other research outputs
  • Developing and setting up Pharmacology lab
  • Assisting in the development of learning materials, preparing schemes of work and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement and attendance
  • Conducting examinations and other assessments
  • Participating in Departmental and Faculty seminars aimed at sharing research outcomes
  • Building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the Department
  • Contributing to Departmental, Faculty, or University wide working groups or committees



Personal Attributes

The School places high priority on individuals of integrity who can work well in a team and student friendly environment. Candidates should also possess good communication and interpersonal skills. A good command of both oral and written English is essential. Candidates must also:


  • Have experience with course management, lecture delivery and related software
  • Have a strong background in research and publication as well as a proven track record in the area of personal research as evidenced by peer reviewed publication in the area
  • Be able to engage in multi-disciplinary teaching and research
  • Have flexibility to work irregular hours on occasion
