Law has been taught at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill since 1970. The Faculty of Law at St Augustine was reconfigured to offer the full LLB and graduate programs in 2012. It offers a complete undergraduate programme in law which is intended to provide a thorough grounding in the principles of law for those undergraduates who read law with the intention of practicing or those who intend to pursue taught or research graduate degrees.
The undergraduate law programme is done in three parts towards the attaining of the LL.B degree which may be awarded in the following categories:
- First Class Honours
- Upper Second Class Honours
- Lower Second Class Honours
The capacity of applicants to the UWI LLM or the Postgraduate Diploma in Law for the designated course of study will be determined by the admitting campus in accordance with specific criteria, through examining their academic and practical experiences.
