Check out The AJL's Display of The National Herbarium of T&T

As part of their 200th anniversary, the National Herbarium of Trinidad and Tobago (NHTT), The Alma Jordan Library (AJL) hosts a display featuring information on NHTT’s history, their oldest specimen, publications and more.

The display is ongoing until June 15. See details below: 

  • Display on the History of the NHTT including photos of all the past superintendents and the Curator, the NHTT mission, vision, services and staff
  • The Oldest Specimen (1842) in the NHTT, as well as the same species from Dominica and a current species specimen (1981).
  • NHTT artifacts (E.g. Largest seed in the world, wood samples, pollen slides, earliest microscope, oldest accession book)
  • Plant processing equipment
  • Epiphyte and Bryophyte display
  • Some Plant specimens
  • Some of Major C. D. Gregson Paintings
  • Outreach activities
  • Book display (publications generated through collaborative work between NHTT and authors)
  • Book launch (Phytotaxa – An annotated checklist of the vascular plants of T & T)
  • Internship Program
