Quality Policy


"In accordance with the mission of The University of the West Indies, UWI-St. Augustine is committed to service excellence in teaching, learning, research, innovation, public engagement, intellectual leadership and outreach within the Caribbean and beyond.


While the primary objective of quality is the attainment of student learning outcomes at the baccalaureate and post-baccalaureate levels, the Campus ensures that in accomplishing its mission that its students are educated to become critical thinkers, effective communicators, information literate, innovative, entrepreneurial, globally aware, grounded in regional identity, responsible and ethical and contribute to inclusive Caribbean development.


In delivering academic excellence, UWI St. Augustine facilitates customer service excellence delivery as articulated in its 2010 service quality policy statement as well as compliance with UWI and Campus regulatory frameworks. In this regard, the St. Augustine Campus embraces the University’s core values of integrity, intellectual freedom, civic responsibility, accessibility, diversity and equity as it continuously navigates its course and adapts to change within the national, regional and global environment.


In order to demonstrate this commitment, the St. Augustine Campus of the UWI will continue to address the quality of its functions, operations, disciplines and services by engaging in cycles of planning, auditing/evaluation and review of academic and non-academic operations such as centres, departments, divisions, institutes, offices and units. It shall implement, assess and evaluate the effectiveness of its Quality Management System and its Service Excellence Framework. It shall further provide assurances to its internal and external customers on the success of its quality policy as well as to the relevant external quality assurance bodies that the University has adhered to their required quality standards”
