Dear New Student
I am delighted to welcome you as a new member of the St. Augustine Campus Community. You have made an excellent choice in The University of the West Indies , and more particularly the St. Augustine Campus to pursue your academic career! One of our strategic objectives is to become more student-centred and in pursuit of that objective we will do our utmost to provide a stimulating academic and social environment in which you can grow and achieve your full potential.
The St. Augustine Campus will be hosting its Sixth Matriculation and Welcome Ceremony on Thursday September 18, 2008 at 5.00 p.m. and you are asked to be present. The Matriculation Ceremony is the occasion when new students are formally recognized as members of the University with the signing of the Matriculation Register marking their acceptance into the academic community. The success of last year’s ceremony was attributable to the full participation of all new students and we look forward to a similar level of participation this year.
A number of persons will be at the Ceremony to meet and welcome you, including the Vice-Chancellor, the Campus Principal, the Deputy Principal, your Faculty Dean, the Director of Student Services and your Guild President. At the end of the formal Ceremony, there will be an opportunity for you to interact with these persons, as well as some of your lecturers, members of the senior administrative and professional staff and other students.
The Matriculation and Welcome Ceremony is an occasion that you should not miss. Please plan to be there. We look forward to meeting you and your parent/guardian!
