Overrides are permissions granted by a faculty to a student with a valid reason to register for a course where the student encountered a major, campus, degree, programme, college or level restriction error message preventing registration. It is a discretionary permission and not a right to which students are entitled. Override permissions do not automatically register a student for a course it allows the student to register without receiving an error message.
*Pre-requisite overrides are not granted*
Remember you must present a valid case to the Faculty offering the course in order for an override permission to be granted.
Step 1
You must download, print, complete, sign and submit an Application for Faculty Override Form to the Faculty offering the course. The period for submission of forms is from 8:30AM on August 17 through 4:00PM on September 11, 2009.
Step 2
The Dean/Head of Department of the Faculty offering the course, reviews, approves/not approves and signs application form.
Step 3
Login to Banner SAS to check if your override application was approved (see Check Override Status Instructions below for more details). It is the student’s responsibility to check the status of their override application. You will not be notified if your application is approved. If your application is denied, you will be notified via your UWI email address by the Faculty offering the course. In checking the status of your override application online, please be advised that denial notifications not received by and course(s) not listed in the Registration Permits and Override section by 1:00PM on 18 September 2009indicates that approval to register for the course was denied.
Step 4
If your application was approved, proceed to register online in Banner SAS for the approved course. Online registration closes at 6:00PM on 18 September 2009 so you must register for your approved course before this deadline. If you do not register for the course by this deadline, it is assumed that you no longer wish to enroll in the course and your permission will be rescinded.
