Arthur Lewis Hall
The Arthur Lewis Hall of Residence, St. John’s Rd. is a co-ed Hall of Residence at the St. Augustine Campus of the University of the West Indies and is the newest hall of the UWI St. Augustine Campus opening its doors to students in the 2010/11 academic year. This new residence caters for the changing needs of our students, providing them with a modern, safe living environment that facilitates the growth and development of all residents. The Hall is situated on the North Campus of the St. Augustine Campus, fife minutes away from the main campus and within close proximity to the Creative and Visual Arts Centre, Hugh Wooding Law School, Family Development & Children's Research Centre and Open Campus Gordon St.
The Hall which is named after the Sir William Arthur Lewis, St. Lucian Nobel Laureate and the first UWI Vice-Chancellor under the UWI’s independent Charter, was opened in 2010, and named in 2011.
The Student Residence consists of single, double and duplex en-suite rooms for undergraduate students as well as a separate block for post-graduates, with self contained apartment. Total accommodation is 375 rooms housing 479 students.
The residence is fully gated with surveillance cameras monitoring, access swipe card entry, PA systems on all corridors and 24hour security. Students have access to complimentary WIFI, common rooms with TV and work tables, recreation room, mini mart, computer lab and a large outdoor courtyard with additional recreational seating and activities. Students will be provided with daily scheduled shuttle service to and from the campus. You will have the opportunity to participate in university lead activities such as aerobic classes, fitness activities at SPEC, hall events and other social events at the residence.
