Greetings from
The University of the West Indies (U.W.I.), School of
Veterinary Medicine (SVM). We are situated in TRINIDAD,
the southern-most island of the Caribbean.
The School is
part of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, which is also
comprised of the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Advanced
Nursing Education and the Pharmacy Programme.
We pride ourselves
on the fact that, though we represent fifteen contributing
countries, the UWI is the only educational institution
that embodies the aspirations of the peoples of what
is in fact One Caribbean; that with the existence of
all these diverse healthcare related disciplines in a
single Faculty, our students gain evidence-based insights
of the One Medicine concept; and as the only indigenous,
fully comprehensive English language School of Veterinary
Medicine in the “New World”, we offer Many
Opportunities which other schools just cannot.
Our first class
graduated in 1994. Our graduates can be found practicing
in the Caribbean, North America (i.e. USA and Canada),
the Middle East and the United Kingdom. Many have pursued
graduate studies in the USA, Europe and Australasia.
