“By far the best thing that has ever happened to me is to have met and married Dr. Mona Webber, herself an outstanding scientist in the field of marine ecology who has been my greatest motivator, my most critical editor, my most knowledgeable partner and best friend. We met as laboratory partners in our undergraduate years and this partnership has continued to benefit both of us and the University up to today. UWI was, and still is the only real option for marine and coastal research and teaching in the Caribbean. On the verge of receiving my PhD, my supervisor, the late Professor George Sidrak, reminded me of two things which I now share with my students: 1) A thesis must be able to defend itself. 2) You may be an expert in a small part of this vast body of science, but it is humbling to realize how much you don’t know.”
