A Dean’s hold is placed on a student’s record when his/her GPA is below 2.0 in a semester. The student is placed on Warning for the semester, and it is normally recommended that these students do no more than three (3) courses until their GPA increases to 2.0 or above.
These persons will require academic advising before the hold can be lifted.

If your GPA is less than 2.0 for two (2) consecutive semesters, you will be placed on RTW (required to withdraw) and must sit out one year. According to University regulations, a student who is on RTW may be readmitted to the same programme after one (1) year elapses. Persons on RTW at the end of Semester 1 are eligible for re-entry in Semester 2 of the following year and should submit a paper application. These persons are to email admis@uwi.edu for further instructions. Persons on RTW at the end of Semester 2 are eligible for re-entry in Semester 1 of the following year and should apply online for readmission. Persons who wish to appeal the RTW may email the Deputy Dean for Undergraduate Studies at STA-FSS-Deputy.Dean-UG@uwi.edu. The appeal process is a lengthy one that requires several levels of approval.
