How do you see cultures connecting? The Centre for Language Learning invites you to let your art reflect language, tradition, everyday life, or the beauty of a people and place in their competition “Culture through My Eyes”. Artists of all ages and skill levels can take part in this contest hosted in recognition of the recent launch of the book Unearthing Traditions: Stories of Language and Culture, Volume One. The artwork must capture and represent one of the countries featured in the book, connecting it with Trinidad and Tobago.
Submissions will be accepted in both hand-drawn and digital art. Prizes will be given for first place winners in both categories. Several special awards will also be given. All pieces must be original artwork, no AI-generated work will be accepted. Individual entries only, no group or class submissions.

UWI St Augustine’s Centre for Language Learning and Department of Modern Language and Linguistics, in partnership with the EU-Latin America Academic Synergies (EULAS), has issued a call for papers for the International Conference on Migrant and Refugee Issues in Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean.
This international conference will bring together scholars, researchers, community leaders, and practitioners in education and migration to explore practices that promote mutual understanding and integration of refugees, migrants, children on the move and displaced people. The conference will include panels, workshops and a migrant fair.
Submissions from a diverse range of disciplines are encouraged, including language, history, sociology, political science, literature, and law. Early-career scholars, independent researchers, and activists are welcome to contribute.
