At UWI there are many ways to achieve practical skills, which will give you a wider range of career options upon graduate. The following programmes are available though the Division of Student Services and Development.
UWI Co-operative Training Programme
Undergraduate students are encouraged to participate in a one year internship programme. The programme provides students with a work placement in an organization related to their Academic training. The CTP offers students opportunity to acquire structured exposure to the World of Work. New students should apply to take part in this programme in your second year.
Career Advice Programme (CAP)Is a programme designed to provide information and advice to students from year one to final year on Career Planning and Development. CAP workshops are held on Thursday afternoons' from 2:30-3:30. You can attend only one session.
Students interested are required to indicate which session their your like to attend. Register at Student Advisor Services any time between Monday to Friday, 8:30 - 4:30pm
World of Work ProgrammePlan for the your future career. "World of Work" is a seminar series and Career Fair designed to prepare graduating students to enter the work environment. The World of Work Programme, offers new students the opportunity to come out to the Career Fair on the first day in order to obtain information from corporations and meet their recruiters.
Computer Aided Career Guidance FacilityLocated at the Student Services, this facility helps students make informed and realistic decisions about their working lives.
Mentorship ProgrammeThe programme pairs UWI students with UWI alumni in a range of organisation to provide information, advice and hands on experience.
