How to encrypt a folder on Windows<\/h4>\n

  1. \u00a0Right-click the folder and select \u201cShow more options\u201d then \u201cProperties\u201d.<\/li>\n
  2. Make sure you\u2019re on the General tab and click on \u201cAdvanced\u201d.<\/li>\n
  3. Check the box next to \u201cEncrypt contents to secure data\u201d and click \u201cOk\u201d.<\/li>\n
  4. Click \u201cApply\u201d.<\/li>\n
  5. You get to choose between \u201cApply changes to this folder only\u201d or \u201cApply changes to this folder, subfolder and files\u201d.\u00a0 Choose the option you prefer and then click \u201cOk\u201d and \u201cOk\u201d again.<\/li>\n
  6. The folder is now displayed with a padlock on it. The encryption is tied to your Windows user account so only your account can be used to access the folder and\/or files and decrypt them.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    How to decrypt a folder on Windows<\/h4>\n

    1. Ensure you are logged in with the user account you used to encrypt the folder.<\/li>\n
    2. Right-click the folder and select \u201cShow more options\u201d then \u201cProperties\u201d.<\/li>\n
    3. Make sure you\u2019re on the General tab and click on \u201cAdvanced\u201d.<\/li>\n
    4. Uncheck the box next to \u201cEncrypt contents to secure data\u201d and click \u201cOk\u201d.<\/li>\n
    5. Click \u201cApply\u201d.<\/li>\n
    6. You get to choose between \u201cApply changes to this folder only\u201d or \u201cApply changes to this folder, subfolder and files\u201d.\u00a0 Choose the option you need and then click \u201cOk\u201d and \u201cOk\u201d again.<\/li>\n
