{"id":914,"date":"2023-08-15T18:51:31","date_gmt":"2023-08-15T18:51:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/test.sta.uwi.edu\/cits\/?page_id=914"},"modified":"2023-08-15T18:51:31","modified_gmt":"2023-08-15T18:51:31","slug":"collaboration-services","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sta.uwi.edu\/cits\/collaboration-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Collaboration Services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The development, provision, configuration and support of collaborative services within the University.<\/p>\n<p>These services include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS)<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft SharePoint Server (ownership restricted to University Staff)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Guidance will be given to customers so they may use the best tool for the particular collaborative task they wish to perform.<\/p>\n<p>Campus Information Technology Services (CITS) will provide training; publish guidelines, policies and best practice guides to aid customers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CITS will:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide a blogging service for &#8220;one to many&#8221; collaboration. This currently requires the permission of the communications division provide a service for content creation and editing by groups of users. Ownership of this is restricted to university staff<\/li>\n<li>Offer a service to provide instant messaging, conferencing and presence information<\/li>\n<li>Offer a SharePoint service for &#8220;many to many&#8221; collaboration e.g. Document sharing and management, workflow, shared calendars and workspaces<\/li>\n<li>Consider requests for additional third party SharePoint web parts<\/li>\n<li>Investigate the synthesis between various tools e.g. OCS, VoIP and the exchange email system offer advice to customers about the best collaborative tool for their needs<\/li>\n<li>Research and evaluate new web 2.0 technologies and recommend their use in university provide an online mechanism to register collaborative sites<\/li>\n<li>Work with various parts of the university to define university policies, standards and guidelines for collaborative service development, operation and management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Customers will:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conform to University policy and guidelines for appropriate use of these technologies<\/li>\n<li>Request collaborative services via the CITS Service Desk<\/li>\n<li>Request additional third party SharePoint web parts via the Service Desk<\/li>\n<li>Register the use of any additional third party SharePoint web parts via the Service Desk<br \/>\nOwners will register SharePoint sites, blogs, and wikis via the Service Desk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The development, provision, configuration and support of collaborative services within the University.
