OUR OBJECTIVES

The central objective of the CARAPA Network is

To share only sound information about the characteristics of Caribbean herbs and their traditional use..”

OUR AIMS

•  To advance the knowledge of Caribbean herbs as medicinal agents

•  To support the development of a sustainable herbal industry within the Caribbean region

•  To encourage research in Caribbean herbal medicine

On-going relevant activities of some members of the CARAPA network already include:

a) sharing only sound information about the characteristic virtues of selected Caribbean herbs, including the preparation of herbal monographs;

b) supporting the growing of selected herbs, by partnering with the agriculture ministries;

c) mobilizing the traditional herbalists;

d) producing a directory of ( Caribbean ) herbs business people;

e) reviewing/developing (draft) legislation/regulations to enable the trade in herbs in the Caribbean region;

f) creating mechanisms to integrate training and education in herbal medicine into the curricula, at all levels in the health sciences in the Caribbean .
