Confucius Institute Day<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

The Confucius Institute Day, affectionately called CI Day, has undoubtedly become a staple event in the local Chinese culture scene. The Confucius Institute at The University of the West Indies hosted its first event in 2014, alongside hundreds of the other Institutes, to mark the 10th anniversary of the Confucius Institute Global Network. From then, the CI Day was used to mark the anniversary of the Institute\u2019s establishment in Trinidad and Tobago.<\/p>\n

The CI Day is a cultural fair where anyone is welcome to participate in different Chinese cultural activities, sample mouthwatering cuisine and witness many exciting performances. Our very small staff complement has worked tirelessly each year to ensure a top-quality event. Over the years, the CI Day has attracted more than 2700 attendees, and many have expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to be exposed to a unique culture such as that of China.<\/p>\n

Since 2014, we have taken the event to key locations in Port of Spain (The Brian Lara Promenade, The Queen\u2019s Park Savannah, The Chinese Association in St. Ann\u2019s) until finally settling on the JFK Auditorium at The UWI St. Augustine campus as its permanent home. At this point, our focus shifted to inviting local schools to learn about Chinese culture and experience a taste of China through many interactive workshops and activities.<\/p>\n

We, like many other global organisations, have been adversely affected by the COVID-19. However, despite not being able to host a physical event, we are inviting you to walk down memory lane with us as we revisit some major highlights of the event.<\/p>\n

A special social media highlight will take place on\u00a0<\/span>our Facebook page<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>from\u00a0<\/span>October 7 – 9, 2020<\/strong>.
