This course will provide students with a background to the sources for existing environmental laws, and of the specific framework for regulation of the environment in the Caribbean region. It will examine the ways in which human behaviour with respect to the environment is regulated at the international level, with specific reference to key biodiversity-related MEAs. This will involve a brief review of the legal and institutional framework within which international law making on the environment takes place. The course will provide students with a basic understanding of the existing legal environmental regimes of selected Caribbean countries.
