The course components contribute to the building of the requisite knowledge base for engaging in antioppressive social work practice with clients systems at national, community and individual level. Core concepts and common issues across different forms of discrimination and oppression will be scrutinised. Theoretical frames will be identified, and their relevance and applicability to the Caribbean context will be explored. The role and function of the professional in working for equality and social justice for client systems, will be examined with particular emphasis on dimensions of empowerment, self-determination, and agency.
