<\/p>\n

Most new infectious disease threats emerge at the interface between humans, animals and the environment. The EDGe Centre brings the tools of modern genomics and molecular epidemiology to that “One Health” interface \u2014 detecting and tracking pathogens across species, populations and countries, and decoding how they evolve to help keep diagnostics, vaccines and treatments up to date. Through research, training and laboratory support delivered in partnership with public health and veterinary institutions, that knowledge translates into faster, evidence-based action for the Caribbean.<\/p>\n

Funded by the Pandemic Fund, the project focuses on strengthening diagnostic and laboratory testing capabilities and building related human resource capacity. The Ministry of Health serves as the lead Beneficiary Entity, working alongside their co-Beneficiary Entities, the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus.
