DR SA’EED HALILU BAWA

PhD, Food and Nutrition Sciences and Dietetics

SENIOR LECTURER

BIO:

I am a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension at the University of the West Indies (UWI), where I have been a faculty member since 2012, and where I have been teaching in both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. I completed my PhD at Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW in Poland and my undergraduate studies at both Kaduna Polytechnic (Nigeria) and Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW. My research interests lie in the area of the prevention and management of chronic non-communicable diseases, ranging from theory through design to implementation. In recent years, I have focused on better nutritional strategies not only for the prevention of diet-related disorders, but also for the improvement of sports performance. I have collaborated actively with researchers in several disciplines pertaining to the field of food and nutrition sciences and dietetics. I have served on about twenty conference, symposium, seminar and workshop program committees. I have served on the UWI Campus Ethics Committee, Library Committee as well as FFA Appointment and Promotion Committee. Personally, I enjoy cooking, playing table tennis and basketball, riding my bike around, and hiking.
