ISABELLA FRANCIS-GRANDERSON

BIO:

I am a Public Health Dietitian by training.  A Lecturer in the Human Nutrition and Dietetics Degree programme, Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension, Faculty of Food and Agriculture, the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus; Coordinated the Diploma, Institutional Community Dietetics and Nutrition, (Dietetic Internship) programme for 13 years.

Before joining the University, I worked as the Chief Nutritionist, Ministry of Health, coordinating the nutrition and dietetics services in Trinidad and Tobago.  Co-author of the monograph: “Time For Counting Calories.”   My research interest has led her to conduct research in food security, elderly nutrition, childhood nutrition, cancer, diabetes, and food safety.   

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lecturer with responsibilities for the following courses: Introduction to Foods and Meal Management; FSM: Equipment, Layout and Design; Principles of Dietetics, Medical Nutrition Therapy I and Advanced Foodservice Systems Management.  Supervises Undergraduate and post graduate research projects

QUALIFICATIONS:

I obtained my Ph.D, in Agricultural Extension, the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus;  Master’s in Public Health at the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics, Howard University, Washington DC.   Pursued the Postgraduate Diploma in University Teaching and Learning at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus
